This is a rich and wonderfully cheesy dish! It's comfort food at it's peak. Very tasty with zuchinni and squash sauteed in fat free italian dressing! (Garlic Bread is also good...)

Recipe Ingredients for Stuffed Shells

12 oz. pasta shells, jumbo
1 lb ricotta cheese
1 1/2 cup cheese, mozzarella, shredded
1 egg
1 lb turkey sausage, ground, browned
1 tbsp dried basil, crushed
15 oz pasta sauce

Recipe Directions for Stuffed Shells

  1. Cook shells according to package directions.

  2. Brown and drain turkey sausage.

  3. Preheat oven to 350.

  4. Mix cheeses (save 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese), egg, 1/2 of the sausage, and basil together in a bowl.

  5. Mix the rest of the sausage with the pasta sauce.

  6. Add 1/2 cup of the sauce mix to the bottom of a casserole dish.

  7. Stuff the shells with the cheese mixture and place in a single layer on the dish.

  8. Top with remaining pasta sauce.

  9. Sprinkle with the rest of the cheese.

  10. Bake for 30 minutes (or until cheese is bubbly).
