Fabulous stuffed peppers --easy to make

Recipe Ingredients for Stuffed Peppers

1 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice
1 cup water
6 green bell peppers
14 1/2 ounce stewed tomatos
8 ounce tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/2 onion
1 salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (can mix basil and oregano)

Recipe Directions for Stuffed Peppers

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Cook rice according to directions. (Place the rice and water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and cook 20 minutes.)

  3. Remove and discard the tops, seeds, and membranes of the bell peppers. Blanch the peppers by putting them in boiling water for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Arrange peppers in a baking dish with the hollowed sides facing upward. (Slice the bottoms of the peppers if necessary so that they will stand upright.)

  5. In a skillet over medium heat, saute the onions and garlic, add the turkey and cook the turkey until evenly browned.

  6. In a bowl, mix the browned beef, cooked rice, stewed tomatos, Worcestershire sauce, , salt, and pepper.

  7. Spoon an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper.

  8. Mix the remaining tomato sauce, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder and Italian seasoning in a bowl, and pour over the stuffed peppers.

  9. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, basting with sauce every 15 minutes, until the peppers are tender.
