Texas hash style stuffing for peppers

Recipe Ingredients for Stuffed Peppers

4 Green Peppers
1 1/4 lb ground turkey
1 3/4 cup onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
29 oz tomato sauce
2 c rice, cooked
1 t marjoram
1 t oregano
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
4 T parmesan cheese, shredded

Recipe Directions for Stuffed Peppers

  1. Cut tops off peppers, cut in 1/2. Remove seeds and membranes. Cook pepper cups in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. Cook turkey, onion & garlic over med-high heat for about 5 minutes until meat crumbles and vegetables are soft. Add tomato sauce and next 5 ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 6 minutes, stirring often.

  3. Spoon meat mixture evenly into pepper halves, place in an 11x7 dish. Add hot water to dish to depth of 1/2 inch. Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle 1/2 T cheese on top for last 5 minutes.
