My Grandmothers recipe for stuffed cabbage

Recipe Ingredients for Stuffed Cabbage

10 cabbage leaves
1 lb ground beef
1/3 cup brown rice
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 egg
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
1 quart tomato sauce
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder

Recipe Directions for Stuffed Cabbage

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

  2. Parboil each cabbage leaf for 2-3 minutes immediately immersing them in iced water. Mix together the tomato sauce and onion and garlic powder; coat the bottom of a casserole dish with a few tbsp of the tomato sauce

  3. Mix together beef, rice, onion, garlic, egg and salt and pepper. Place a few tbsp of the meat mixture into each leaf and roll up tucking sides in; place in the casserole dish seam side down. Pour remaining tomato sauce over the cabbage.

  4. Bake for 2 hours.
