Fattening but really, really good! A good treat for every once in a while.

Recipe Ingredients for Strawberry Stuffed French Toast

1 slice whole wheat bread
1 strawberries
1 1/2 tbsp cream cheese
1 tsp unsalted butter
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 1/2 tbsp syrup

Recipe Directions for Strawberry Stuffed French Toast

  1. Cut slice of bread in half on a diagonal

  2. Spread plain or strawberry cream cheese on upper side of one of the halves

  3. Slice strawberry thinly and layer on top of cream cheese (make sure they stick into it)

  4. Place other half on top to make a 'half sandwhich'.

  5. Beat egg in a bowl and mix in water, milk, cinnamon (and a bit of pure baking vanilla if desired)

  6. Melt butter in skillet.

  7. Place the half sandwhich in egg mixture and spoon mix over it till completely coated (don't let it sit in it too long or it will get too soggy)

  8. Carefully place in the skillet and fry both sides till golden brown. Be sure to flip carefully so it will stay together.

  9. Serve immediately topped with syrup and a sprinkle of icing sugar!
