I had some strawberries about to go bad, so I cooked them to lengthen the shelf life. The lemon juice helps preserve the color.

Recipe Ingredients for Strawberry "soup"

1 pint strawberries
1/2 cup walnuts
4 tsp sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/8 cup water

Recipe Directions for Strawberry "soup"

  1. Wash strawberries and slice them in half

  2. Add strawberries to a pot

  3. Pour lemon juice over the strawberries

  4. Add the water and heat on low heat until strawberries start to break down

  5. After mixture becomes soupy, add stir in sugar

  6. Continue to heat on low until mixture comes to a boil
