Classic French dessert, reworked to be lighter.

Recipe Ingredients for Strawberry Clafouti reworked lighter

8 oz. Strawberries, hulled and halved lengthwise
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 cup egg substitute
1 large egg
2/3 cup flour
1 cup skim milk
1/4 cup Splenda
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt

Recipe Directions for Strawberry Clafouti reworked lighter

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a shallow 2-qt. baking dish. In a bowl, toss strawberry halves with cornstarch until evenly coated, then arrange berries with cut sides down in bottom of dish and set aside.

  2. In a blender, whirl egg substitute, egg, milk, flour, Splenda, vanilla and salt until smooth, about 15 seconds. Pour batter over strawberries.

  3. Bake until puffed, golden brown, and set in the center, about 50 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
