This is the sauce that I used for a tempeh and veggie stir fry. A practically nonfat vegetarian Dish. I did not include the tempeh and veggies that I used in analysis due to not being in the database and interchangable with other brands of tempeh or other proteins.

Recipe Ingredients for Stirfry Sauce and Seasonings for veggies and tempeh

0.13 oz (approx 1/2 tsp) 5 spice
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 serving ( 1/2 tsp) garam marsala
2 tbsp teriyaki
2 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce (or beef flavored broth)
1/4 cup beef broth, reduced sodium
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tsp honey

Recipe Directions for Stirfry Sauce and Seasonings for veggies and tempeh

  1. Place frozen veggies and tempeh in the wok and cook on medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until warmed through.

  2. Add all spices and stir.

  3. Add teriyaki, soy sauce, and some of the broth.

  4. Bring to boiling point.

  5. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch with rest of broth and water if needed.

  6. Pour over veggie mix, and stir.

  7. Bring to boil, then turn down to simmer.

  8. Add water if necessary if it becomes too thick.

  9. Remove from heat.

  10. Serve over brown rice.

  11. *I used a store-brand Asian Vegetable Mix with green beans, onions, broccoli and a little mushrooms. I also used Soy Boy lowfat 5 grain tempeh.
