Great over brown rice. Enjoy with a side of orange slices. This recipe also called for salt, which I deleted to keep this recipe "low sodium."

Recipe Ingredients for Stir-Fry Green Beans with Beef

1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cornstarch
1 T soy sauce, low sodium
1/2 cup water
2 T canola oil
1/2 lb. steak, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves
1/2 c onion, chopped
1 lb green beans, fresh

Recipe Directions for Stir-Fry Green Beans with Beef

  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch, soy soy sauce and water in a small bowl. Set aside

  2. French cut the green beans. Set aside.

  3. Heat oil in skillet. Add steak, garlic, and onion.

  4. Stir fry over high heat until beef begins to change color.

  5. Remove beef, onions, and garlic from skillet and set aside.

  6. If necessary, add more oil and reheat skillet and add green beans. Stir until beans become bright green.

  7. At once, add reserved soy sauce mixture and cook, stirring until clear.

  8. Cover skillet and cook over medium heat until beans are just crisp-tender.

  9. Return beef to skillet. Stir well.

  10. Remove from heat.

  11. Serve immediately with rice.

  12. (Can substitute beef with chicken; if frozen beans are used, add 1 T cornstarch to the soy mixture).
