The rich, slightly bitter flavor of the bok choy takes well to the sweetness of the hoisin sauce. This stir-fry is extreme.y simple.

Recipe Ingredients for Stir-Fried Bok Choy with Ginger and Hoisin Sauce

1 bouillon cube
1/3 cup of water
1 tbspn rice vinegar
2 tbspn olive oil
2 tbspn ginger root, minced
2 tbspn hoisin sauce
1 head bok choy, large
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper

Recipe Directions for Stir-Fried Bok Choy with Ginger and Hoisin Sauce

  1. Combine bouillon cube, water, hoisin sauce and vinegar in a small bowl and set the mixture aside.

  2. Separate the leafy green portions of the bok choy from the white stalks. Discard the tough bottom portion from each stalk.

  3. Cut the stalks crosswise into thin strips yielding about 5 cups. Cut the leaves crosswise into thin strips yielding about 7 cups. Set the stalks and leaves aside separately.

  4. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until almost smoking.

  5. Add the bok choy STALKS and stir-fry until slightly softened, about 2 minutes. Add the ginger and stir to combine. Continue cooking until the stalks start to brown, about 2 minutes.

  6. Add the bok choy LEAVES and the hoisin mixture to the pan. Cover and cook until the STALKS are tender and the LEAVES have wilted, about 2 minutes.

  7. Uncover and stir-fry until the sauce thickens a bit, about 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Serve immediately.
