Sweet and sour, old fashioned stewed fruit.

Recipe Ingredients for Stewed Rhubarb (for crumble)

1 tbsp orange peel (zest of one orange)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
580 g rhubarb
1 cup sultanas

Recipe Directions for Stewed Rhubarb (for crumble)

  1. Water, sugar and zest in large pan, bring to boil.

  2. Cut rhubarb into 2cm lengths and lay flat in pan, return to boil and then reduce temperature to very low.

  3. Simmer, covered for 6-10min until tender.

  4. Remove from heat, cool and sprinkle sultanas over mixture in a baking dish before adding crumble topping.
