Recipe Ingredients for Steel Cut Oats

1 tablespoon butter
1 cup steel cut oats
3 cups water
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon buttermilk
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Steel Cut Oats

  1. Large sauce pot, melt butter, add oats, toast for 2 min

  2. add boiling water, reduce heat

  3. simmer for 25 minutes without stirring

  4. combine milk and 1/2 of buttermilk with oatmeal

  5. stir gently

  6. cook 10 minutes

  7. In Bowl: remaining buttermilk, brown sugar, cinnamon

  8. good addition: dried fruit
