1 cup steel cut oats
3 cups water
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
1 cup water
1 tablespoon buttermilk
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Steel Cut Oats - NO MILK - per Alton Brown on the Food Network

  1. Large sauce pot, melt butter, add oats, toast for 2 min

  2. add boiling water, reduce heat

  3. simmer for 25 minutes without stirring

  4. combine 1.5 T yogurt and 1 C water until smooth

  5. stir gently

  6. cook 10 minutes

  7. In Bowl: remaining yogurt, brown sugar, cinnamon

  8. good addition: dried fruit
