Delicious hearty breakfast. This healthy breakfast will keep you full all morning.

Recipe Ingredients for Steel Cut Oatmeal with Raisins and Carrots

6 cups water
2 cups oats
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Steel Cut Oatmeal with Raisins and Carrots

  1. Bring water, carrots, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt to boil in Dutch oven.

  2. If desired, you can add 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

  3. Stir in steel cut or Irish oatmeal.

  4. Cover with lid and put into 350 degree oven.

  5. Bake 15 minutes. Stir.

  6. Repeat 2X for a total of 45 minutes.

  7. Add brown sugar to taste and serve.
