Recipe Ingredients for Steel Cut Oat Bread

1 cup steel cut oats
1/4 cup dark molasses
1 tbs canola oil
3/4 tsp sea salt
2 cups boiling water
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 3/4 cups stone ground whole wheat flour
2 cups unbleached white flour

Recipe Directions for Steel Cut Oat Bread

  1. combine oats, molasses, oil and salt with boiling water.

  2. disolve yeast in warm water for 10 minutes, while mixture cools

  3. Add yeast to mixture.

  4. work in flours and knead mixture

  5. place in greased mixing bowl, let rise to double

  6. punch down and place in bread pan, let rise to double

  7. Bake about 40 minutes at 375.
