For less calories and more fiber, try oat bran pitas and/or swapping out the Yukon golds for sweet potatoes. Calorie count noted here is for a full pita; we find that a half-pita is very filling: if you're eating a half, the caloric count is 269.

Recipe Ingredients for Steak & Bacon Pitas With Leeks,Red Onion & Potatoes

3/4 lb. chuck steak
2 slices turkey bacon
1 large leek,sliced
1 medium red onion,sliced
2 medium yukon gold potatoes
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 large green pepper
4 whole wheat pita, small

Recipe Directions for Steak & Bacon Pitas With Leeks,Red Onion & Potatoes

  1. Precook potatoes and dice into 1" pieces.

  2. Cut steak into thin strips and bacon into 1" sections, saute in nonstick pan until just beginning to brown.

  3. Add leek, peppers, onion and olive oil, saute five mins.

  4. Add potatoes and cook until browned. Serve in pitas.
