Good cake to top with fruit and whipped cream! Has a shortcake texture.

Recipe Ingredients for Sponge cake

3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
10 egg yolks
1 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup boiling water
2 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Sponge cake

  1. Sift flour, baking powder & salt 3 times

  2. Mix egg yolks, sugar & vanilla until light in color

  3. Add cup of boiling water and sifted dry ingredients and mix well

  4. Put in greased tube pan

  5. Bake in 350 oven for 55 minutes

  6. Cool

  7. Top with any fruit and/or whipped cream
