My Husband's homemade split pea soup

Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea Soup from Scratch

32 oz dried green peas
6 oz turkey bacon, diced
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
21 g garlic, crushed
1 3/4 gallons water
1 tbsp black pepper, crushed
1 1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup from Scratch

  1. Rinse green peas in sink

  2. In a 5qt stockpot, combine evoo, garlic, bacon, and bay leaf, sautee over med/low heat for 2 or 3 minutes

  3. Add rinsed peas and water, salt and pepper

  4. Let boil, then simmer for 1 hour
