Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea Soup with Rice - Homemade

2 1/2 cup Split Peas
96 oz Light and Fat Free Chicken Broth
1 cup Rice
1 cup, chopped Onions
1 tbsp Chicken Flavor Bouillon Granulated
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Oregano, Ground
1/2 tsp Pepper, Black
1 tsp, crumbled Bay Leaf
1 1/2 cup, chopped Carrots
1 cup, diced Celery
2 serving Fully Cooked Bacon

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup with Rice - Homemade

  1. Soak the split peas overnight. Then rinse and drain.

  2. In large pot, combine rinsed peas, broth, rice, onion, bouillon and seasonings. Simmer uncovered 1.5 hours.

  3. Stir in carrots, celery and bacon. Simmer uncovered an additional 2 hours or until soup reaches desired thickness.
