I make this simple and tasty soup to use up leftover ham after the holidays.

Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea Soup

1 cup ham
1/2 onion diced
1 cup Carrots
1 1/2 cups split peas
4 cups water (or broth)
1 tsp,+crumbled bay leaf
1 pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup

  1. Chop ham and add to pot over medium

  2. When ham is hot, add onion and carrots cook until onions are tender

  3. Add peas and bay leaf, heat and stir for a couple of minutes

  4. Add water/broth

  5. Bring to boil, turn down heat and simmer until peas are tender.
