This is a recipe I have been making for years. I took another recipe that I found and then changed it to make it more what we like.

Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea Soup

280 g Smoked Ham
1 cups dry split peas, sorted
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup Celery
1 cup chopped carrot
2 tbsp. dried parsley
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic
3 tbsp,+crumbled bay leaves

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup

In 4-6 quart crockpot, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. Just before serving use a potato masher to mash some of the peas in the soup for a thicker consistency.
