Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea soup

1 lb dried split peas
2 c chopped carrots
1 c chopped onions
4 oz bacon
2 quarts water
1 t black pepper

Recipe Directions for Split Pea soup

  1. Chop the salt pork into a dice, cook over medium high heat in a soup pot to render fat (about 5 minutes). Add onions, carrots, and garlic, cooking until starting to soften, 5 to 7 minutes.

  2. Add split peas and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook until veggies are soft, about an hour.
