Recipe Ingredients for Split pea soup

1 lb dried Split peas
3 carrots, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1 cup onion, chopped
10 cups water
1 cup (6 oz) ham shank

Recipe Directions for Split pea soup

  1. Simmer all ingredients for about 2-3 hours and when thickened, it's ready.

  2. season to taste and add a couple of bay leaves.

  3. freezes well

  4. always better the next day
