A great winter Soup Serve with doughballs

Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea Soup

1 lb yellow split peas
1 medium onion, chopped
270 g ham, cubed
1 cup carrot, 1/2 inch cubes
3 medium potatoes, 1/2 inch cubes
16 cups water

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup

  1. Add the yellow split peas to the pot with the water and soak overnight

  2. Next day add onion.

  3. Bring to a boil, and allow to simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.

  4. Add the ham, carrot and turnip and cook for about 15 minutes or until vegetables are softened.

  5. Add in potatoe and cook until soft
