1 lb. split peas ham bone or ham hocks chopped ham 1 onion, chopped 4 carrots, chopped 4 stalks celery, chopped 4 bay leaves 1 tsp. dried thyme 12 cups water

Recipe Directions for Split Pea Soup, Homemade

  1. Chop 1 onion, 4 carrots, 4 stalks celery.

  2. Saute about 6-7 min.

  3. Add ham bone, chopped ham, 4 bay leaves.

  4. 1 lb. split peas

  5. 12 cups water

  6. Bring to a boil.

  7. Simmer until peas disappear and soup thickens about 3-4 hours
