Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea and Ham Soup

16 oz Genuine Baked Ham
1.5 cup, chopped Onions
2 cloves, raw Garlic
2 tsp Spices Ground Black Pepper
24 oz Peas Green Split Dry
12 oz Carrots
0.7 tablespoon Rosemary

Recipe Directions for Split Pea and Ham Soup

  1. Place the hame (with bone) in a large pot over high heat. Add water to cover, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and let simmer 6 - 8 hours. Allow to cool and clean the stock, discarding the bone, excess fat, and any cartlidge. Return the good ham meat to the pot and bring back to a boil.

  2. Add the onion, garlic, rosemary, and ground black pepper and allow to simmer for 1 hour. Then pour in the split peas and the carrots and allow to simmer for at least 1 more hour to allow the peas to break down. Add water if needed since the peas may soak up a good portion of the water. Stir together and season to taste.
