2 cups split peas
6 cups water
1/2 cups carrots, chopped
1/2 cups celery, chopped
1/2 cups onion, chopped
7 ounces ham

Recipe Directions for Split Pea and Ham Soup

  1. Dice 1/2 pound of ham

  2. Put all the ingredients into a soup pot

  3. Bring to a boil

  4. Reduce heat to a slow simmer

  5. Cover and cook for 2 hours, stirring frequently to prevent scorching

  6. Season with freshly ground black pepper
