Split pea soup made with organic chicken broth and lean ham added at the end.

Recipe Ingredients for Split Pea and Ham Soup

16 oz split peas
186 grams deli ham
2 stalks celery
2 carrots
1/2 onion
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp salt
1 clove garlic

Recipe Directions for Split Pea and Ham Soup

Dice vegetables into small pieces and saute over medium low heat with salt for about 5 minutes. Add chicken broth and water and simmer for about 1 hour over low. Rinse split peas and add the broth. Bring to a boil then turn the heat down and simmer for another 45 minutes until peas are soft and breaking apart. Pure soup with hand blender then add cut and ham to soup. Simmer for another 10 minutes and serve.
