Recipe Ingredients for Spinach Cavatappi Gratin

625 mL (Lactantia) Pur Filtre Milk 2%
13.5 mL (Derlea Foods) Garlic, Minced CDA
4 serving (Silani) Grated Parmesan CDA
6 cup Spinach
2 medium Carrots
1 tsp Paprika
0.75 tsp Salt, Table
0.5 tsp Pepper, Black
1.5 serving (Gay Lea) Butter, Unsalted - sticks
0.13 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Unbleached
1 cup Water
1 tbsp Butter
1 cup Honey, Strained Or Extracted
1 tsp Salt, Table
1 cup Oats, Regular And Quick And Instant, Unenriched, Dry
2 cups Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
1 tsp Leavening agents, yeast, baker's, active dry

Recipe Directions for Spinach Cavatappi Gratin

  1. Turn bread into breadcrumbs

  2. Grate carrots.

  3. Cook pasta, when there is one minute left of cook time add the grated carrots. Drain

  4. Return pot to mdium heat and melt butter.

  5. Add garlic, paprika, 3/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper and saute for 1 min.

  6. Gradually whisk in 2 cups hot milk. Whisk flour into 1/2 cup cold milk and whisk into pot.

  7. Cook stirring constantly for about 5 mins or until bubbling and thickened.

  8. Remove from heat.

  9. Stir in pasta, spinach and half of the parmesan cheese until spinach is wilted.

  10. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

  11. Meanwhile, preheat the boiler.

  12. Spoon pasta into a 8-10 cup shallow casserole or baking dish.

  13. Top with bread crumbs and remaining Parmesan.

  14. Broil for 2-3 minutes or until topping is golden.
