Great appetizer or side-dish bars, crunchy on the outside and soft and cheesy inside. Serving size 1 2" x 2" square

Recipe Ingredients for Spinach Bars

4 tbl butter
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 egg
3 cups shredded cheese
10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained

Recipe Directions for Spinach Bars

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Place butter in a glass 13 x 9 pan and set in the oven to melt while mixing the rest of the batter.

  2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. Add cheese, egg, and milk and stir until nearly combined. Add spinach and stir until just combined - any longer and the dough will turn green!

  3. Spread into the pan over the melted butter and bake 30 to 45 minutes, or until browned and testing done in the center. Let cool 5 minutes before cutting. Serve immediately.
