Spicy Steamed Broccoli Recipe

From "The vegetarian Cookbook", by Marva Kinariwala. A simple and spicy way to enjoy broccoli.

Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Steamed Broccoli

2 lbs broccoli
2 tsp oil
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 peppers, hot, red
1 tsp Garam Masala

Recipe Directions for Spicy Steamed Broccoli

  1. Discard large stems of broccoli. Cut the tops into small pieces (flowerets) with 2 inch stems.

  2. Steam the broccoli pieces for about 4 minutes. They should be slightly cooked but still crunchy.

  3. Heat oil in a large Wok. Add 2 tsp oil and swirl itso that the oil coats the surface of the wok. At high heat add the steamed broccoli pieces, then 2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp ginger and 1/2 tsp ground red pepper. Stir gently.

  4. When the spices are evenly distributed, turn off heat and let the vegetables cook a little more as the wok cools.
