Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Sloppy Joes

1 1/2 lbs of lean ground beef
3 tablespoons of tomato paste
3 tablespoons of ketchup
3 cups of red onions
2 cup of bell peppers
15 oz of tomato soup
3 tablespoons of garlic
4 tablespoons of pesto
2 tablespoons of basil
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of cumin
2 tablespoons of paprika

Recipe Directions for Spicy Sloppy Joes

  1. Chop all vegetables and heat a pan to medium high.

  2. Add oil and all vegetables.

  3. Stir for 10 minutes until lightly brown and very fragrantful.

  4. Begin adding dried seasonings, cumin paprika and a little salt and black pepper to help make the veggies more aromatic.

  5. Add ground beef or meat of your choice and continue to cook until meat is done.

  6. Add all liquids/tomato products and lower heat and stir for 20 minutes until it all comes to a boil.

  7. Add pesto and stir in for another few minutes until everything is mixed and melted. Add 1/2 cup of water to thin out the mixture or leave if you like thicker sloppy joes.

  8. Lower heat even more and cover pan with a lid and cook for another 15 minutes until everything is blended well. Serve over rice or buns.
