A spicy, salty furikake with enough flavor to perk up any plain rice dish. I also find this great on steamed veggies and cooked eggs. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 1 month.

Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Nori Furikake

7 sheets nori
3 tsp raw slivered almonds
1 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
1 tsp caraway seeds
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp fresh cracked pepper

Recipe Directions for Spicy Nori Furikake

  1. Heat a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add caraway seeds and red pepper flakes. Toast 1-2 minutes, shaking pan often. Do not burn!

  2. To create small nori flakes, crumble sheets into a bowl and rub them between your (clean and dry) hands until you achieve the desired level of fine-ness. You could also use a food processor, but be careful not to pulverize it to dust.

  3. Finely chop or process almonds and add to skillet, toasting for about a minute.

  4. Combine nori flakes, salt, pepper, and pan mixture in an airtight jar or bowl and seal. Shake lightly to combine and store in the pantry or fridge.
