Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Hermits

1/3 cup canola oil
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon instant coffee powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Spicy Hermits

  1. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar

  2. Add egg, beating well

  3. Stir in water

  4. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture

  5. Stir in raisins and chocolate chips

  6. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet

  7. Bake in moderate oven (375') for 10 minutes
