Recipe Ingredients for Spicy fried brown rice

2 cups Rice, Brown, Medium-grain, Cooked
1/2 cup sweet onion (chopped)
1 leek
1/2 cup mushrooms (chopped)
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 cup broccoli
2 tbs low sodium soy sauce
1 1/2 tbs canola oil
1 tsp chili oil
1 tsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sriracha
1 1/2 tbs mirin
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chinese 5 spice
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 egg
2 tsp sesame seeds

Recipe Directions for Spicy fried brown rice

  1. par-steam carrots and broccoli, taking care not to overcook (should still have crunch)

  2. Heat canola oil in deep frying pan (non-stick best option to prevent adding more oil)

  3. saute onion until translucent

  4. add leek & mushroom, stir until soft

  5. add rice, broccoli and carrots, mix well

  6. make hole in middle of rice, crack egg and let cook until white sets.

  7. scramble egg and mix into rice

  8. add spices and mix

  9. combine low-sodium soy, chili oil, mirin, sriracha and vinegar in small bowl.

  10. add mixture into rice and mix well.

  11. sprinkle in sesame seeds and cook for another minute.

  12. serve hot in bowl.

  13. Can add cooked shrimp, chicken, pork, beef etc as well.
