Savory and spicy, these creole green beans are a perfect side dish just about anything!

Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Creole Green Beans

2 pounds (8 cups trimmed) fresh green beans
2 cups (about 4 large stalks) celery, roughly chopped
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 reserve juice low-sodium diced tomatoes
3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
15 ounce tomato sauce
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons Tony Chachere's Lite Creole Seasoning
2 dashes cayenne
1 teaspoon brown sugar

Recipe Directions for Spicy Creole Green Beans

  1. Wash and trim ends from green beans.

  2. Put olive oil in a large stockpot, and heat over medium-high heat.

  3. Add onions and saute for 2 minutes or until softened.

  4. Add celery and saute for another minute.

  5. Add green beans and stir together.

  6. Add the rest of the ingredients; 2 cans of diced tomatoes with juice, 3 cups of low-sodium chicken broth (or less if you want less liquid), 1 can of tomato sauce, black pepper, creole seasoning (this can be reduced to taste) cayenne, and brown sugar.

  7. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover.

  8. Simmer for at least 45 minutes or until green beans are tender.

  9. Adjust seasonings and serve!
