Spicy Beef with Broccoli (No Rice) Recipe

modified from a beef with bok choy recipe - experiment with different veggie combinations. delicious sauce! can also do half the sauce. weight of one serving is actually around 140 g.

Recipe Ingredients for spicy beef with broccoli (no rice)

1/2 cup rice wine
3 tbsps oyster sauce
4 tsps cornstarch
4 tsps canola oil
8 ounce raw shrimp
12 ounces sirloin steak, trimmed
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
6 ounces broccoli florets
4 ounces carrots, diced
4 ounces mushrooms, sliced

Recipe Directions for spicy beef with broccoli (no rice)

  1. Cut steak into thin slices approximately 1" long and 1/4" wide.

  2. Peel, devein, and chop the shrimp into 1/4-1/2" chunks.

  3. Cut carrots into 1/2" chunks.

  4. Cook brown rice to directions on package.

  5. Whisk rice wine, oyster sauce, and corn starch in a small bowl until dissolved.

  6. Heat 2 tsp of the oil in a skillet over med-high heat.

  7. Add beef and red pepper.

  8. Cook, stirring until meat begins to brown (1-2 minutes).

  9. Add shrimp and continue to cook until shrimp is opaque and pink (1-2 minutes).

  10. Transfer all of this to a plate.

  11. Heat remaining 2 tsp of oil over med-high heat in the same pan.

  12. Add vegetables and cook, stirring until they begin to soften (2-4 minutes).

  13. Stir in sauce.

  14. Add meat to pan, and cook until heated through and sauce starts to thicken (1-2 minutes).
