Recipe Ingredients for Spicy Beef and Basil with Vemicelli Noodles

16 oz Laura's 96% Lean Ground Round
6 tsp Chinese Five Spices
3 clove Garlic
3 tsp Ginger Root
3 pepper Peppers, Jalapeno
1 medium Squash, Summer, Zucchini, Includes Skin
0.66 tbsp Fish Sauce
0.5 medium raw Bell Pepper Red
2 medium (4-1/8" long) Onions, Spring Or Scallions
4 oz Cilantro
0.5 cup leaves, whole Basil, Fresh
1 lime yields Lime Juice

Recipe Directions for Spicy Beef and Basil with Vemicelli Noodles

  1. Brown the beef in a medium skillet until cooked through, about 6 minutes. Add the Chinese 5-Spice and a pinch of salt and pepper and sauté another minute. Add the garlic, ginger and chiles, sauté another minute.

  2. Add the zucchini and sauté another 2 minutes. Add the fish sauce and toss to combine. Taste it. Need more salt? Add a pinch if it does.

  3. Cook the vermicelli noodles in boiling water, then drain and rinse under cool water.

  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked vermicelli noodles, the beef mixture, diced red bell pepper, basil, parsley, scallions and a heavy squeeze of lime juice. Toss to combine.

  5. Serve with more lime slices.
