Indian side dish. I omitted the raisins and it was still very good.

Recipe Ingredients for Spiced Rice Pilaf with Raisins

2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 cup chopped onion
6 ounces long-grain or basmati rice
2 teaspoons fresh ginger root
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for Spiced Rice Pilaf with Raisins

  1. In medium saucepan, heat oil: add onions. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, 2-3 minutes, until softened.

  2. Add rice, ginger, turmeric and cloves to onion mixture; stir to coat. Stir in broth, raisins and salt; bring liquid to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, 20 minutes, until rice is tender and broth is absorbed.
