Sweet and tangy red cabbage with onion and apple

Recipe Ingredients for Spiced Red Cabbage

750 g red cabbage
1 large red onion, chopped
1 green apple, cored and chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
20 g butter

Recipe Directions for Spiced Red Cabbage

  1. Quarter cabbage and remove the core. Finely slice it and put it in a CrockPot with the onion and apple and toss well.

  2. Combine garlic, spices, sugar and vinegar in a small bowl. Pour over cabbage and toss. Dot with butter. Cover and cook on CrockPot's low setting for 2 hours, stirring once or twice. Season to taste with salt and pepper, serve hot.
