Recipe Ingredients for Spiced Lamb Burgers w/Tsaziki

2 tbsp olive oil
1 brown onion
1 clove garlic
1 tbsp ground cumin
1/2 tbsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp chili flakes
1 tsp ground allspice
500 g lamb, minced
1 tbsp mint
1/4 cup parsley, roughly chopped
1/4 cup dill, roughly chopped
1 egg
200 g feta cheese
1 pinch salt
1 pinch black pepper
1 Lebanese cucumber, grated
1 pinch salt
2 tsp mint, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed to paste
200 g plain yogurt
1 Lebanese cucumber, peeled
1 carrot, peeled
1 beet
1 cup baby spinach, washed
30 g dill

Recipe Directions for Spiced Lamb Burgers w/Tsaziki

  1. Tsaziki: Place grated cucumber in a sieve over a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Set aside to drain for 30 minutes

  2. Burgers: heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic for 2 minutes or until soft but not coloured. Add spices and cook for 1 minute. Remove pan from heat and allow to cool.

  3. Place lamb mince in a large bowl. Add onion mixture, herbs, egg and feta. Use hands to mix well and season to taste. Share mix into 4-8 patties, depending on your preferred size and refigerate for 10 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile combine salted cucumber and remaining Tsaziki ingredients in a bowl. Season to taste. Preheat barbecue or grill to medium-hot.

  5. For salad, use a vegetable peeler to cut cucumber, carrot and beetroot into ribbons. Toss with spinach leaves and dill. Grill patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.

  6. Either layer burgers, tsaziki and salad into ciabatta to serve, or spread on plate to be eaten as a dinner plate.
