Makes 12 servings

Sounds like a wonderful Autumn dessert (found on 'net). I doubled the number of servings from 6 to 12 because it seemed appropriate.

Recipe Ingredients for Spiced Golden Apples

1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
6 apples, Gala or Golden Delicious
2 tbsp. (Smart Balance) margarine, melted
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe Directions for Spiced Golden Apples

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350.

  2. In pie plate or shallow dish, combine sugar, flour and cinnamon, mixing well.

  3. Peel and partially core apples, leaving bottom end of apple cores in place.

  4. Dip apples in melted margarine, then roll in sugar mixture.

  5. Place coated apples in shallow baking dish.

  6. Combine walnuts, remaining margarine and remaining sugar mixture; spoon into centers of apples.

  7. Add water to just cover bottom of baking dish.

  8. Bake 45 minutes or until apples are tender.

  9. Microwave version:

  10. Coat and fill apples as directed above.

  11. Place in microwave-safe baking dish.

  12. (Omit adding water to dish.)

  13. Microwave, uncovered, on high (100 percent) 11 to 12 minutes or until apples are tender.

  14. (If microwave does not have carousel, rotate dish one-quarter turn every 3 minutes.)

  15. If necessary, loosely cover apples with waxed paper to prevent spattering.

  16. Let apples stand 3 to 5 minutes before serving.
