Spanish Brown Rice Recipe

A great way to jazz up a great grain

Recipe Ingredients for Spanish Brown Rice

2 tbsp. olive oil
1 small onion, diced
1 c. long grain brown rice
2 c. water
1/2 cup Tomato Sauce
120 1/2 g Green Chilies, diced (small can)
1 tbsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. Chili Powder
1 tsp. Tabasco Sauce (or to taste)

Recipe Directions for Spanish Brown Rice

  1. Pour olive oil in a 1 or 2 quart pan (with a tight fitting lid)

  2. Sautee onion for about 3 minutes.

  3. Add cleaned rice and stir to coat the kernels.

  4. Add the water and cover. Bring to a boil until steam begins to escape the cover.

  5. Remove from heat for 5 minutes.

  6. Return to heat, and cook for 20 minutes more, with cover till on.

  7. Let sit for 10 minutes before removing cover.

  8. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Adjust seasoning to your own tastes.
