My son's favorite. I make my own meatballs with 93% or leaner ground beef, adding a bit of olive oil for moistness and serve them with this over noodles. I like the whole wheat pasta, but my son prefers the regular kind.

Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti Sauce

1/2 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounces mushrooms, fresh
1/4 cup sliced olives
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
14 1/2 ounces diced tomatos, canned
6 ounces tomato paste
26 ounces spaghetti sauce
1 cup beef broth
2 cups water
1 tsp marjoram
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp oregano
1/8 cup parsley, dried
1/2 tsp basil

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Saute veggies in olive oil, till tender and soft. Add tomato products, beef broth and water. simmer over low heat (barely a bubble if any), the longer the better.

  2. I add the meatballs after the water and broth and let them cook along with the sauce for richer flavor. (I partially cook them in the oven to insure they retain shape and then simmer them with the sauce to finish them.

  3. I use the Ragu light spaghetti sauce with no sugar and look for broth and tomato products with little or no sodium added.
