Easy spaghetti sauce with a bit of a kick. Change garlic and red pepper flakes to suit taste

Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti Sauce

16 oz spaghetti
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
15 oz tomato sauce
14 1/2 oz diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain

  2. Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and heat until hot, but not smoking.

  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and saute until light golden and fragrant, but not smoking, about one minute.

  4. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar and salt.

  5. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Sauce should reduce and thicken slightly.

  6. Add cooked, drained pasta to sauce and toss gently to evenly coat. Serve immediately
