Very good meat sauce but use spareingly. The pork Italian sausage can be substituted with ground turkey but add more spice. The pepperoni could be reduced but does add a lot of flavor.

Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti - Red meat sauce (no pasta included), 1.28Kcal/g

2 3/10 oz pepperoni
16 oz Sausage
4 oz carrots
5 oz onion
7 2/5 oz green bell pepper
8 oz mushrooms
3 cloves garlic
28 oz Crushed Tomatoes
3 tbsp olive oil
2 g Splenda
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp Red Chili Pepper

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti - Red meat sauce (no pasta included), 1.28Kcal/g

  1. Prep.

  2. Cut the pepperoni into a fine chiffanod. Dice the carrots to a fine dice. Dice half the bell peppers to a fine dice, the other half to a chiffanod. Slice onion into long slices. Slice mushrooms into thin slices. Crush and press the garlic.

  3. In hot large stainless steel skillet add 1 tbsp of oil. When oil ripples add meat. Cook and stir till sausage is cooked and crumbled. Remove meat with a spoon into a paper towel lined bowl. Pour out excess oil.

  4. Bring the skillet back up to heat and add vegetables minus the tomatoes. Add salt and spices. Cook over medium heat till carrots are tender and onions are translucent. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil if needed.

  5. Add the canned tomatoes, splenda and the meat. Cook covered over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Serve over linguine, tortellini or cool and use as a filling in empanadas.

  7. At the end add 1 tbsp of good olive oil and stir.
