Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti Pie

4 ounces uncooked thin spaghetti
1 egg
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 Nonstick cooking spray
2/3 cup reduced-fat ricotta cheese
3/4 pound lean ground turkey
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground coriander
14 ounces diced tomatoes
1 cup chopped onion
8 ounces tomato sauce
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 clove garlic
2 teaspoons basil
4 ounces shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti Pie

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions, omitting salt. Drain and rinse well under cold water, drain well.

  2. Beat egg, parmesan cheese and italian season lightly in a medium bowl. Add spaghetti; blend well. Spray 9 inch deep dish pie plate with cooking spray. Place spaghetti mixture in plate. Press onto bottom and up sides of plate. Spread ricotta over top.

  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine with, chili powder, fennel seeds, pepper and coriander in medium bowl. Spray large nonstilck skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat until hot. Cook turkey mixture until turkey is no longer pink. Add remaining ingredients except mozzarella cheese. Cook and stir until mixture boils. Spoon mixture over ricotta cheese in pie plate.

  4. Cover pie with foil. Bake 29 minute. Remove foil. Top with mozzarella cheese; bake 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into 6 wedges.
