Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti Meat Sauce (Robert)

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef (preferably 96/4)
1 medium white onion (finely chopped)
1 1/2 cups mushrooms (fresh and coarsely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (pressed)
1/2 large red bell pepper (finely chopped)
1/8 oz (3) bay leaves
15 oz can tomato sauce
15 oz can diced tomatoes
12 oz tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1 tbsp creole seasoning (Tony Chachere's More Spice)
1/4 tsp chili powder
3 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp black pepper (fresh ground)
1 tsp thyme
2 tsp parsley
1 tsp tarragon
1/2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti Meat Sauce (Robert)

  1. Add olive oil, white onion, and ground beef to a large non-reactive Dutch oven and sprinkle with 1 tbsp creole seasoning.

  2. Brown beef over medium-high heat.

  3. Add remaining ingredients. Stir well and simmer for approx 2 hours, stirring approx every 15 minutes.

  4. Uncover and simmer to desire consistency if necessary.

  5. Sprinkle crushed pepper if desired.

  6. Approx 1 cup per serving size.
