A lower fat version of the famous dish. If you add grated cheese, remember to add those calories.

Recipe Ingredients for Spaghetti alla Carbonara

12 ounces spaghetti
1 ounce cooked bacon
4 eggs
1/2 tsp black pepper

Recipe Directions for Spaghetti alla Carbonara

  1. Crumble the 1 ounce of crisp, cooked bacon and set aside.

  2. Beat the eggs well with a generous amount of black pepper, and set aside

  3. Bring a large pot of water, at least 1 gallon, to a rolling boil and add a teaspoon of salt to the water.

  4. Drop in the spaghetti and stir once

  5. Boil until the spaghetti is done but still firm.

  6. Drain and place in a warm bowl. Toss with the crumbled bacon.

  7. Pour the eggs over and toss well.

  8. Cover the bowl with foil and let sit for 3 minutes. This will cook the eggs.

  9. You may add grated cheese.
