A southwestern twist on your traditional Italian meal. Very tasty!

Recipe Ingredients for Southwestern Spaghetti

1 lb lean beef, ground
2 1/4 cups water
16 oz (2 cans) tomato sauce
2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 package (1-lb) fettuccini , broken into thirds
6 zucchini (approx. 1 lb each), cut into chunks
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Recipe Directions for Southwestern Spaghetti

  1. Cook beef and drain. Set aside and keep warm.

  2. In a large pot, combine water, tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and cumin. Bring to a boil. Stir in pasta and return to a boil. Cook for approx. 6 min.

  3. Add zucchini and cook 4-5 min or until pasta and zuccini are tender.

  4. Stir in the beef.

  5. Stir in 1/2 the cheese.

  6. Serve immediately. Use the other 1/2 of cheese as a garnish.

  7. Note: You can use any long pasta for this meal, and you can subsitute ground turkey for the ground beef.
